Change APC UPS Battery

This is an example for an APC 1400 UPS. Other APC's might be the same.

1. Get out the yellow fuse.
2. Unscrew 4 screws on the top backside of the ups.
3. Turn the UPS and loosen the from at the bottom side with two screwdrivers.
4. Put 1 screwdriver in the opening and pull a little bit.
5. Loosen the side notches with the other screwdriver until the front is off.
6. Unscrew the 2 screws at the front.
7. Lay-down the UPS on its side and remove the upper case with 2 screwdrivers.
8. As the case comes loose, you will see 2 batteries. Disconnect and remove them.
9. Remember the the cable layout!!!
10. Black on minus 0-000+0 minus and plus with black short cable 0-000+0 red cable plus.
11. With the batteries replaced, assemble the case.
12. Put the upper case back, turn the UPS so it stands normally
13. Return the two screws at the front in it's place.
14. Put back the front and screw on the back with its 4 screws.
15. Insert the yellow fuse.

You should now be ready to go again with a fresh pair of batteries.
