This is for Debian
Edit /etc/network/interfaces so it looks like this:
# The loopback network interface
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
# The primary network interface
allow-hotplug eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.10.X
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.10.1
network 192.168.10.0
broadcast 192.168.10.255
dns-nameservers 192.168.10.1 192.168.10.11 192.168.10.13
dns-search domain.artit.nl
